Pastor George Pearsons

Sunday Outline – April 9, 2023

Resurrection Sunday. Brother Kenneth Copeland took a few minutes to speak about our focus.  He said, “There is no easter rabbits, and the word easter is only used one time in one translation” (Acts 12:4), other translations use the word, “Passover.”

We need to be careful as we follow traditions, being watchful as to the reason behind it; or we can make the Word of God of no effect (Mark 7:13).  He shared while his children were growing up, Gloria and I would tell the children the truth. There are no rabbits that lay eggs, there is no easter rabbits, santa claus, or tooth fairies. This is why we don’t call this Sunday, “Easter Sunday.”  The correct name is “Resurrection Sunday.”

John 19:28-30, Jesus received the vinegar, He then said it is finished.

Matthew 27:45-53 records that He said, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Both of these disciples were standing there at the foot of the cross. They both saw and heard Jesus.

It is finished,” Brother Copeland shared this is referring that the first covenant is finished.

Psalm 22:1-31 (AMPC)

What Jesus did on the cross was the fulfilment of prophecies. God spoke to prophets, like David to speak these prophetic words.

v.17-31 It is done, it is finished.

Hell was defeated by a blood covenant of God!

Jesus went into hell with the words of Psalm 22

Jesus died on the Wednesday night, and that is why we celebrate at EMIC on Wednesday (Passover Seder), He was in the earth for three days and three nights just like Jonah (Matthew 12:40).

John 19:14 – A high day Sabbath refers to a special Sabbath day required by a feast observance regardless of the day of the week upon which it falls.

Additional Sabbath Days

There are a number of other Sabbaths in addition to the weekly Sabbath.  The word “sabbath” means rest and God declared rest for His people with weekly Sabbaths and additional Holy Days of Assembly.   Collectively, these Sabbaths are called “seasons” (Genesis 1:14) or God’s appointed times (Leviticus 23:2). In addition to the 52 weekly Sabbath days, there are 7 High Holy days for a total of 59 Sabbaths.

7 High Holy Days:

  1. 1st month Nisan, 15th day: Passover 1, first day of unleavened bread (Pesach 1) – April 5, 2023
  2. 1st month Nisan, 21st day: Passover 7, last day of unleavened bread (Pesach 7) – April 13, 2023
  3. 50 days after the first festive Sabbath: Feast of Weeks (Hebrew Shavuot, in Greek: Pentecost) – May 28, 2023
  4. 7th month Tishrei, 01: Day of Trumpets (Yom HaTeruach) – September 17, 2023
  5. 7th month Tishrei, 10: Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) – September 26, 2023
  6. 7th month Tishrei, 15: Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) – October 1-7, 2023
  7. 7th month Tishrei, 22: Last Great Day (Shemini Atzeret) – October 8, 2023

The early church considered the reference to the Sabbath in Mark 15:42 to mean the weekly Sabbath. Since Jesus was crucified on the day of preparation, they assumed it to have taken place on Friday afternoon.  The error in this logic is that the Sabbath referred to in Mark 15 is the Feast of Unleavened Bread, one of the seven Holy Days of Passover.

After Jesus defeated the devil in hell, He then had to present Himself in the heavenly mercy seat to His Father; and then came back.

A spirit has flesh and bones, but no blood, and the glory flows through the ‘veins.’ “Life is in the blood” (Leviticus 17) is speaking here on earth with life flowing from the spirit to the flesh.  Today, as Jesus’ church, we need to allow His life to flow through us.

We are to occupy until He comes – we are the occupying force.

Occupy in your neighborhood.  Tell someone that Jesus is coming soon!

Pastor George continued the message speaking on “Resurrection Life in Us”

Romans 6:3-5

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”

Newness of Life (in the Greek) is the word, ZOE

  • The life of God, or the Godkind of life
  • No imperfections — perfect, total, and complete
  • No limitations, no restrictions — above and beyond
  • No contamination — pure and clean
  • No darkness, death, disease, lack, or fear — only light, life, heath, prosperity, and faith

Resurrection Life causes us to live in a constant state of victory.

Resurrection Life is a force.

  1. It will change the physical body.
  2. It will drive out and destroy disease.

Pastor shared the story of John G. Lake and the bubonic plague. In 1910 many in Africa were perishing because of the bubonic plague. John G. Lake and his assistant offered to help remove the many dead bodies that perished due to this plague. They would go into houses where the stench of sickness hung in the air. Lake and his assistant had no fear of catching the disease.

A doctor sent for him and asked, “What have you been doing to protect yourself?” Lake replied, “The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the Law of Sin and Death. I believe that as long as I keep my soul in contact with the living God so that His Spirit is flowing into my soul and body, no germ will ever attach itself to me. The Spirit of God in me will kill it.”

1 John 5:11-12 (Pastor George Translation)

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal, Resurrection Life, and this Resurrection Life is in His Son. He who has the Son has Resurrection Life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have Resurrection Life.

We have the same degree of Resurrection Life dwelling in us as Jesus.

Sister Gloria Copeland said;

“After we are born again and indwelt by His Spirit, we actually have the SAME POWER God used to raise Jesus from the dead residing in us. We have enough Resurrection Life to overcome any resistance Satan would bring against us.”

John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life.”

1 John 4:17 “As He is, so are we in this world.”

Romans 8:11;

“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.”
