Radiant Happenings! November 30th

Pastor George has been ministering the past two Sundays on the importance of cultivating a lifestyle of thanksgiving. As we continue our study of Proverbs, you will discover that the more you change your decisions and your lifestyle to line up with God's Word, the more honor you are giving God in your life. Honor is a byproduct of thankfulness! This is so important because in 1 Samuel 2:30 (AMPC), God says this:

"…For those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed."

Failure to honor God is when you face a choice between going God's way or your way and you choose to do what you want to do instead of what He says. Restating the verse from last week, but adding verse nine this week, this is why!

"My son, hear the instruction of your father; reject not nor forsake the teaching of your mother. 9 For they are a [victor's] chaplet (garland) of grace upon your head and chains and pendants [of gold worn by kings] for your neck." Proverbs 1:8-9 (AMPC)

As we learned last week, the father reflects Father God, and the mother reflects the Word of God! Now listen to what the Kesuvim / The Writings (Mishlei/Proverbs) on pg. 7 say about verse nine:

"For they are an adornment of grace for your head and a chain for your neck. Torah (Bible) instruction and mussar (ethics) will be like jewelry for your head and a golden necklace. The throat is referred to in the plural because of the many rings of the trachea (Rashi)."

"Head symbolizes thought, while neck symbolizes speech. Mussar teachings will "adorn" a person's thought and speech. (Malbim)"

Can you see the importance, the value, of wisdom in our life through those verses and teachings? The honor we give to God (cultivating a lifestyle of thanksgiving) by putting His Word first place and making it final authority – He counts that as a crown upon our heads and a golden necklace about our neck!! Do you see royalty in that?? You should! You are a child of the MOST HIGH GOD!!
