On Sunday, Pastor George ministered “Forgiveness Opens the Door to Healing.”

Unforgiveness Halts Your Faith

Mark 11:22-26;

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore, I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.”

Faith won’t work in an unforgiving heart.

When you stand praying, forgive if you have aught against any. That includes having aught against yourself (Matthew 5:23-24).

By faith, we need to receive forgiveness, and let go of any pain, betrayal, and untrust of the past. Let go of the guilt and shame and place these under the blood of Jesus.

Mark 11:26 (PGT) If we don’t forgive ourselves, our Father won’t be able to forgive us!

Forgiveness opens the door to the BLESSINGS.

There is Bible progression that begins with forgiveness and ends with what you are believing God for in faith, i.e., healing.

A Biblical Progression

Psalm 103:1-5;

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His holy Name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

  1. Pastor George shared there is Biblical progression as we walk with God.
  2. Healing begins with receiving forgiveness. This is true for every promise we receive (lay hold on and make each promise yours).
  3. Forgiveness opens the door to healing.

James 5:13-16;

“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

A Biblical Example

Luke 5:17-26;

“And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee. And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone? But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that wherein he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.”

A little about Pastor George’s father:

  1. The condemnation of my Father’s past was blocking his healing.
  2. Through faith, he had to bring that unforgiveness to an end for him to receive healing, even though the healing had already been provided.
  3. The door to his healing opened when he received forgiveness from his past. Receiving mercy and forgiveness for his failures and refusing to entertain and dwell on the words that came from the past kept the door open for healing to flow.

Psalm 107:17-20;

“Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.”

(MSG) “Some of you were sick because you’d lived a bad life, your bodies feeling the effects of your sin; You couldn't stand the sight of food, so miserable you thought you'd be better off dead. Then you called out to GOD in your desperate condition; He got you out in the nick of time. He spoke the word that healed you, that pulled you back from the brink of death.”

Communion

Hebrews 4:16; (AMPC)

“Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].”

Isaiah 43:25; (NLT)

“I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sake and will never think of them again.”  Don’t carry the weight of any guilt.

1 John 1:9;

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us (by the blood) from all unrighteousness.”

Jesus then says, “I find no fault in you!”

Forgiveness opens the door to healing.

1 Corinthians 11:23-32 (NKJV)

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore, whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.”
