Just reading those five words evokes a tremendous sense of peace. Imagine living your life totally free from care, anxiety and worry. Think about never having any apprehension about the future or any remorse over the past. No more anxious days wishing it were night, and no more fitful nights wishing it were day. What a life that would be!
That kind of life is not beyond reach. It is available to each one who would dare believe and act on 1 Peter 5:6-7: “Humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God…that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully” (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition).
Notice that this scripture tells us to cast ALL our care onto Him.
While researching the topic of care, I discovered that there are certain areas that cause people the greatest anxiety and worry. Those include relationships, health, daily life, workplace stress and finances.
Make it a habit to cast every care over onto The LORD. That’s true biblical humility. When you’re tempted to try to “fix” a situation yourself, instead, cast the whole load of your care about it over onto Him because He cares for you. Trust Him with your finances, your family and your future. Trust Him to be everything you need and more. He loves you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and has engraved you in the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16). Look to Him for everything, and trust Him to take care of you and your family!
In addition to our finances, we must cast the care of each of the other areas onto Him as well. ALL means ALL! Everything: every care, every worry, all anxiety. We can cast ALL our care upon Him because we know that He is able to completely supply ALL our need.
Philippians 4:6-7 in the New Living Translation, admonishes us: “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.” The AMPC says, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything.” We are to take everything to Him in prayer. Why? Because He knows exactly what to do and precisely how to handle every situation. He has the perfect wisdom that will provide the perfect direction.
Instead of taking the care, take the wisdom of God. Proverbs 4:7 declares, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Pastor Terri and I have learned to seek the wisdom of God no matter what is taking place in our lives. James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (New King James Version).
Some years ago, Pastor Terri and I were struggling with a particular situation. The pressure was intense. It became very easy to slip over into care and worry. One day, we were with Brother Copeland and decided to share our dilemma. He told us there is a key issue to every problem. His direction was to cast the care, pray in other tongues and believe God for the key issue. He told us that the wisdom of God is the key issue that would provide the direction we needed.
He suggested that we take time to pray about nothing but that situation. We immediately put that Holy Spirit strategy to work. We cast the care and prayed much in other tongues. Within a short amount of time, the wisdom came.
We knew exactly what to do!
How do you live this care-free life? Cast all your care over onto Him. Don’t worry about anything. Instead, pray and receive His wisdom. The results will be stunning! “And God’s peace…which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7, AMPC).
