Pastor George Pearsons

Sunday Outline – August 20, 2023

This past Sunday, Pastor George ministered “No Fear Here!”

On September 17, 2001, “It seemed like the newspaper shouted at me when I saw the article on anthrax.  This was a terrorist threat to infect the American people with germ warfare.”  This was another fear attack just days following 9/11.

Edward Jay Epstein: The Anthrax Attacks Remain Unsolved - WSJ

I pointed at the newspaper with defiance in my heart. I answered the question, “No! I am NOT afraid.”

While my hand was over my heart, I boldly and confidently said, “No fear here.”

Is it possible to live in this world, face the things we encounter every day, and still confidently say, “No fear here?”

Living a fear-free lifestyle is not only possible — but it is something we can and need to do!

Hebrews 12:1; (KJV)

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

Today, we are going to remove some of the weight which the enemy has tried to place on us. The weight of fear.

2 Timothy 1:5-7; (NKJV)

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus, to Timothy, a beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Both First & Second Timothy are responses to questions. The Apostle Paul is reminding Timothy (and us)…

v.5 I’m calling you to remember what is on the inside of you.  Once you do, then in v.6 “stir up” the gifting's, the purpose, and the calling of God upon your life.  You have never received a spirit of fear from God.

When we live totally free from fear… nothing will move us, intimidate us, paralyze us, or throw us into a state of panic.

Psalm 112:6-8;

“Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.”

Philippians 1:28;

“And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.”

(NLT) Do not, “be intimidated in any way by your enemies.”

It is time to receive freedom from ALL fear.

Psalm 34:4;

“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from ALL my fears.”

Job 3:25-26;

“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.”

Fear.

The devil is at the root of ALL fear. He uses fear to control, intimidate, and paralyze.

Fear is a magnet that draws the curse. Faith takes us out of our own identity and allows us to place the care on the Lord and operate in God’s identity. By faith we draw nigh to God, and He draws closer to us in wisdom, guidance, and His love.

(NLT) “What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.”

(HEB) I feared a fear and it came upon me.

Satan’s primary attack against us is with lies which lead to fear. Our response is to cooperate with God and walk in His truth which leads to overcoming faith.  The greater we walk in THE BLESSING, the less fear and curse will be around us.

Example of how fear operates.

You have been invited to a gathering, and you are thinking I sure hope this person won’t be there.   That is fear of man.

Reciprocal Defined.

Corresponding but reversed or inverted [The same — only opposite.].

North and South are directions on a compass. Yet, they point in two different directions.

Faith – Spiritual force

Fear – Spiritual force

Good spiritual force

Evil spiritual force

Jesus is the author and developer of our faith.

Satan is the author and developer of fear.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

Fear comes by hearing, and hearing the lies of satan.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of victory not physically seen.

Fear is the substance of things dreaded, the evidence of failure not physically seen.

Faith is acting as though God is bigger than satan.

Fear is acting as though satan is bigger than God.

Jesus defeated The Master Fear – The Fear of Death.

Hebrews 2:14-15;

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy (paralyze, abolish, terminate) him that HAD the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

(AMPC) “And also that He might deliver and COMPLETELY SET FREE all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives.”

Galatians 3:13-14;

“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Deuteronomy 28:66-67; (NIV)

“You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day, never sure of your life. In the morning you will say, “If only it were evening!” and in the evening, “If only it were morning!”– because of the terror that will fill your hearts and the sights that your eyes will see Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of fear.”

Refuse to Fear.

Isaiah 41:10-13; (NKJV)

“FEAR NOT, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

(MSG) “Don’t panic. I'm with you. There's no need to fear for I'm your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you.”

(AMPC) “Fear not [there is NOTHING to fear].”

Fear is like the open apps on a smartphone that will eventually drain the battery. We must shut down those apps for the phone to work at peak performance.

We refuse to put up with, manage, or cope with fear.

We eradicate fear from our life by removing the roots. We do this by faith in God’s love.

Identify and isolate every opportunity to fear, then declare, “I refuse to fear.”

Psalm 23:4;

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL: for thou are with me.”

Psalm 27:1;

“The Lord is my light and my salvation. WHOM SHALL I FEAR? The Lord is the strength of my life. OF WHOM SHALL I BE AFRAID?”

Psalm 27:3;

“Though a host should encamp against me, MY HEART SHALL NOT FEAR. Though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.”

Psalm 56:11;

“In God have I put my trust: I WILL NOT BE AFRAID what man can do unto me.”

Psalm 118:6;

“The Lord is on my side. I WILL NOT FEAR. What can man do unto me?”

1 John 4:18;

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

Cast (in the Greek) “To throw down.”

(MSG) Well-formed love banishes fear.

(NLT) Perfect love expels all fear.

(NIV) Perfect love drives out fear.

My Declaration of Freedom from Fear

In the Name of Jesus, I take authority over fear that would attempt to come into my life.

I am free from ALL fear.

Jesus defeated the master fear – the fear of death.

I am redeemed from the curse of fear.

I have no tolerance with any form of fear, and therefore fear has no place in my life.

I am not afraid of the devil, of people, my future, or my nation.

I stand with the quality decision to walk in love.

God’s love, which is perfect provides the strength and authority to remove all fear within my life and family.

I refuse to fear; therefore, I am fear free and FAITH FULL as I stand on the Word of God.

I declare, there is NO FEAR HERE!

Supplement – Monday morning staff prayer.

This was such a blessing and tied in so well with our Pastor’s message, I thought it would be a blessing to include an excerpt.

Let’s look at Psalm 91 in light of Pastor George’s message, “our continued freedom from fear.”

91:1-6; (TPT)

When you abide under the shadow of Shaddai, you are hidden  in the strength of God Most High.

He’s the hope that holds me and the stronghold to shelter me, the only God for me, and my great confidence.

He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and He will protect you from false accusations and any deadly curse

His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you.

You can run under His covering of majesty and hide.

His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.

You will never worry about an attack of demonic forces at night nor have to fear a spirit of darkness coming against you.

Don’t fear a thing! Whether by night or by day, demonic danger will not trouble you, nor will the powers of evil be launched against you.

This passage covers being free from things we can see, things that have been exposed and brought into the light (DAY), as well as things that we may not see (NIGHT). We are told we are free from them all.

We choose each day whether we operate in fear, or in faith.  Both are spiritual words which create a reality in our life.

Pastor Holden Hanley often says to the 14Forty students:

“Don’t think of a pink elephant, especially don’t think of a pink elephant that is wearing polka dot shoes.”

What have you just done – started to think of a pink elephant…

Instead of trying not to think about something that you have battled with. We choose what we will think on by casting down thoughts that are not of God's plan by SPEAKING Words of faith.  When we only think thought, we continue to battle.

Brother Copeland has said, "There is no nourishment in remembering a potato, you must eat it for it to benefit you."  In the same way we must SPEAK God's Words, and not just think about them.

i.e., Psalm 91:2

“God you are my hope which holds me and strengths me, and You are my stronghold to shelter me in everything I encounter.

You are my God in every area of my life, and therefore the situations I may see in the natural, are already changing in the spiritual, because I keep my confidence in You.”
