Stand Your Ground!

In spite of all that is taking place around us right now, we remain overcomers in Christ. 1 John 5:4, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition, tells us, “For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith.” We are prospering in our spirit, soul, body and finances.

Pastor Terri and I pray for you every day, thanking God that you are part of the EMIC family, and asking that He bless you bountifully and give you the desires of your heart, according to His planned purpose for your life. You are so special to us.

It appears the devil has launched another wave of attacks. COVID is trying to ramp up again. Our government has been making some crazy decisions. We are still uncovering election corruption. And on top of all that, there are the personal issues we’ve been facing.

It is time to get strong in The LORD and stand your ground against the enemy.

Ephesians 6:10-14, AMPC, is a must read, and reread for the day and hour we are in right now. It says, “In conclusion, be strong in The LORD [be empowered through your union with
Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put
on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground].”

In the face of all that is going on, we are to be strong in The LORD and in the power of His might. We must stand up against all the devil’s strategies. We must stand our ground. Hold your ground, soldier, and don’t let the enemy push you back! Advance, and keep on advancing! Charge!

How do we stand our ground? By faith, that’s how!

Second Corinthians 1:24, New King James Version, says, “…by faith you stand.” First Corinthians 16:13, AMPC, tells us to “be alert and on your guard; stand firm in your faith.” So, we stand in faith against every attack. We stand our ground no matter what the circumstances may look like.

What do we stand on? God’s WORD!

In 1 Corinthians 15:1, Paul said, “I declare unto you the gospel (God’s WORD) which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand.” Whatever is going wrong in our nation, or in your life right now, locate a scripture, stand on it and walk it out to victory. Don’t allow the devil to discourage you. Stand your ground and don’t let go.

Galatians 6:9, AMPC, says, “Let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right (or, walking by faith), for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” And in Hebrews 10:23, AMPC, we read: “So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His WORD.”

How do we stand in faith? We get rooted and grounded in The WORD. The more rooted we are in God’s WORD, the easier it is for us to stand our ground. Success in standing is in direct proportion to how rooted we are in The WORD. Remember this: No root, no fruit!

Colossians 2:6-7 tells us, “As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus The LORD, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him. Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving” (AMPC).

The more rooted we are, the more we are able to resist the enemy. Psalms 112:6-8 says, “Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in The LORD. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he sees his desire upon his enemies.” To become firmly rooted, read your Bible daily, come to church and listen to faith-filled preaching.

Let’s make a quality decision to stand our ground and not give up. Say this out loud right now: “I make the quality decision to stand my ground. I am strong in The LORD and in the power of His might. I stand firm in faith on God’s WORD. No matter what is going on around me,I am rooted and grounded in His WORD. I refuse to give up or quit. I am not afraid of evil tidings. My heart is established and fixed. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me!”

Standing with you in faith,

Pastor George Pearsons
