Pastor John Jester

Sunday Outline – May 21, 2023

This past Sunday, Pastor John Jester ministered “The Faith Kind.”

Pastor John shared a word that Pastor George received in 1991.

“I want you to perpetuate the rich heritage of faith from which this ministry was built and from which it is sustained, teacher, staff, and the church; the same principles that Kenneth and Gloria have taught and teach the body of Christ.”

“They need to know how to stand in faith, believing for their every needs to be met, for their own wellbeing, for their own good and for the future generations of workers and congregation members. The operation of faith needs to rise up and take preeminence over the natural fleshly ways of doing things.”

James 1:22;

"But be doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving yourselves for if any, be a hearer of the word and not a doer. He is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass or in a mirror, for he beholds himself and goes away, and straightaway forgets what manner of man he was.”

Different translations say he goes away and forgets what kind of man he was. Faith is how you stay in the position of the blessing.

Whatever you need, you can reach out and receive. Even right now, signs and wonders will follow the preaching and teaching of the Word. If you need healing in your body, reach out and receive it. If you need peace in your mind, reach out and receive it. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of the Lord. And as the preaching and teaching of the Word happens this morning, faith is rising.

When Pastor John arrived here in January 2014 to be interviewed, he asked to speak with Jeremy and Aubrey.

Jeremy shared to be successful at this assignment, do what Pastor’s George and Terri tell you to do. Aubrey said help them fulfil their vision, and then you will find your own. Pastor John said it has proven to be true over the years.

God brought me here, and Brittney and I knew we were ‘home’ as we were with our kind. You either need to be true to your kind or you will fight against your kind.

The struggle the devil presents is the temptation to make you think you need something more than what you already have.

Genesis 1:24;

“And God said, let the earth bring forth the living creatures after his kind cattle and creeping thing and beasts of the earth after his kind. And it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind and the cattle after their kind and the things that creepeth on the earth after his kind. And God saw that it was good.”

In Genesis 1, 10 times God refers to a kind.

This word, ‘kind’ is used to denote a specific species that is genetically compatible with one another. The word can also be used to identify a subspecies inside that species.

Pastor John shared that he has three dogs. “When I tell people I have three dogs, oftentimes the very first question that comes is, ‘What kind of dogs?’”

We can debate about the best kinds of dogs. There are different kinds of fish, there are different kinds of birds. All of them have a specific kind. And there's purpose in the kind. The command was that they were to reproduce after their kind

That kind is to reproduce after its kind.

Verse 26 God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness and let him have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the foul of the air, over the cattle and all the earth and every creeping things that creeps on the earth.

So dominion was given to man over all the other kinds.

Verse 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female, he created them.

Verse 28 And God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful and multiply. Multiply how? After their kind and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the foul of the air and over every living thing that moth on the earth. This is a different kind, the beast of the earth. The cattle, the creeping things were brought forth according to their kinds,

They were to reproduce according to their kinds. Those that were genetically compatible with one another, but man was not created in the same manner. Man is a different kind. You and your dog are not the same. You can love, and enjoy your dog. You can find pleasure in your dog. Your dog is not your baby because your dog is not your kind. The monkey is not your kind. You did not come from a monkey. That's not your kind.

You are a different kind. So, it would benefit us to understand what kind we are. There's purpose in your kind.

The important question is what kind are you? Where do I get my purpose from? Each one was to reproduce after their kind.

F.F. Bosworth says, “Faith begins where the will of God is known.” Since God had a will in creating you in a specific way, you can't release faith for your identity until you understand the kind that you were created. Faith starts when you know what God intended.

Verse 26 (AMPC) God said, let us father, son and Holy Spirit make mankind in our image after our likeness and let him have complete authority over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, the tame beast and over all of the earth and over everything that creeps on the earth.

“Image” in this verse means the model after which you were created. Think about it as a model car. There was no other kind to pattern you after except God Himself. You were created, modeled to function the way He functions. He said, let Us make mankind after Our image or in Our model.

Acts 17:28-29;

“We live and move and have our being in him. For as much as we are the offspring of God, we ought to think that the Godhead is not like gold or silver or stone or any graven art by man's device.”

You are not a product of a good idea. You're after His model, you're in His model. He said in our likeness which literally means after or according to. Or, to be patterned after someone or something else, or to do it in the same manner that they do it. Likeness denotes the force of similarity. You were created with a force of similarity to the One who created you.

Looking at Adam would have been just like you were looking at God, He was created to represent or to re-present God. In every situation, Adam was a re-present of God. He had the authority of God, and he was to represent that authority in every moment.

If you go out here in Tarrant County and you start driving down the road and break the speed limit, there might be a car that pulls you over. That car on the side may have sheriff written, but Sheriff Wilborn, the sheriff of Tarrant County is probably not the man who would pull you over. It's probably going to be someone else in that car. But the car says Sheriff. And when they get out of the car, they have on a badge which says, sheriff. The car will say, sheriff, but that's not Sheriff Wilburn. You don't get to say you're not sheriff Wilburn so I don't have to do what you say.

He has a badge and a peacekeeper that says otherwise. Why? Because he is a representation of the authority vested in the sheriff and you must respond to him based on that authority. All of creation was created to respond to God's authority. In creation, God vested that authority into His man. You could see it like this. Let us make man patterned after the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost to be like us, to represent us in the earth, to be our representation. Adam and Eve were created as the God kind.

Pastor Terry recently preached on drawing upon the elements of the divine. She says this concerning your spiritual DNA, “You have His life, you have His glory, you have Him. He's not in a little box. He's in you.”

Pastor Terry teaching KCBC said, “We came out of Him. We draw our essence from Him.” If you are a born-again believer, the very essence of who you are is in God and God in you.

Pastor George says, “We are carriers of the glory.” The glory is defined as heavy with everything good, the full weight of God. The full weight means everything that He has, and everything that He has invested into you.

Psalm 8:4-9;

“What is man that you are mindful of him or the son of man, that you care for him you, yet you have made him but a little lower than God and you have crowned him with glory and honor and made him to have dominion over the works of your hand. You have put all things under his feet.”

How many things? This is important because there will be things that come on you that are beneath you. They will try to talk to you. And if you don't keep them in their place, you will begin to respond to things, rather than to respond according to your position over the things.

Genesis 2:15;

“The Lord God took man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and to keep it.”

Pastor John shared that he likes to garden.  At times it can be hard work as you need to break up the ground in order to sow seed. That tilling requires tools. God put Adam in a garden and told him to tend it and to keep it. The tool that God gave Adam was Himself.

You're my kind. You saw me do it. Now, you do it the same way. How did God tend to garden? God spoke. There was an exercise of faith in the speaking that Adam was to continue to exercise, and perpetuate from one generation to the next generation to show how to tend and keep the garden. His dominion was if it goes out of line, put it back with your words.

That's His tool. And it's still our tool. Because you are the God kind. That's the kind that you are. You were created to do it like God.

Genesis 3:1;

“Now the serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature in the field which the Lord God had made. And he, Satan said to the woman, can it really be that God has said, you shall not eat from the tree of the garden? And the woman said to the serpent, we may eat the fruit from the trees of the garden. Watch this, accept the tree from accept the fruit from the tree, which is in the middle of the garden. God said, you shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it.”

That's not what God said! God didn't tell them not to touch it. In fact, that's God's tree. They should have tended that tree more than they tended any other tree. The commandment was don't eat of that tree.

The serpent said to the woman, you shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it, your eyes will be open, and you will be like God knowing the difference between good and evil and blessing and calamity.

He said, you'll be like God. The devil's native tongue is lying (John 8:44).

When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources for he is a liar and the father of it, other scriptures will say, he speaks his native language. He is a professional liar. And every lie that was ever told or ever come into existence, he's the father of it.

Eve was promised that she would be like God if she ate of the fruit. Here's the issue. She was already like God. She was already in His likeness. The devil promised her something that she already had to convince her that something else was needed to obtain something that she had already received.

This is still the tactic of the enemy. You've already been created in God’s likeness. The Word of God declares concerning you that all things that pertain to life and godliness belong to you. There's not one thing that God left out. There's not one thing that God didn't invest in you through Jesus. There's not one thing that God left undone in salvation and the cross.

Good marketing can make you think that you need something extra.

Perhaps you shop at a large warehouse store, you stop to pick up one or two items, maybe dogfood and laundry detergent, and because of the skilled marketing, and two hours and $300 later.  The store somehow convinced you that you needed more stuff.

What happens? They play to your senses rather than to reality. They play to your senses rather than the truth. And you feel like you have to buy it right then, despite having five of them already at home,

If you would be conscious of what you already possess, it would be impossible to be convinced that you need something outside of what you already have. The church's job is to be the restraining force in the earth and to demonstrate the power of almighty God Himself. There's not one thing hell has that the church cannot overcome.

Ephesians 1:23;

“That the fullness of He who fills everything everywhere with himself has been invested into his body,”

This means that there isn’t any gap. Jesus has filled the gap with Himself – Your wall to wall with Jesus Christ, the Anointed one and His Anointing.

You're not the lacking kind. You're a different kind. The devil will attempt to convince you that you need something to fulfill you, then he'll be able to get you to respond and abdicate “your kind.”

What happened Eve and Adam decided to identify with the lie as though it were true. If you treat the lie as though it were true, you'll suffer the consequence of the lie. You are the one who has the choice on how you identify. Your identity is a choice. You were created with purpose. You can side with the power of the one who created you for purpose. On purpose, by purpose, with purpose. Or you can choose to side with the lie. It's your choice.

You don't have to identify with that mess any longer. You can choose to identify with the one who loves you and gave everything for you. There's power in the purpose for which He created you. And you can choose that identity.

Why? Because we've been redeemed

Ephesians 1:7;

“In Him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sin according to the riches of his grace.”

1 Corinthians 1:30;

“But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus who became for us. Wisdom from God and righteousness. Sanctification and redemption.”

Colossians 1:13-14;

“The Father has delivered and drawn us to himself out of the control and dominion of darkness, and has transferred us into the kingdom of the son of his love in whom we have our redemption through his blood, which is the forgiveness of our sin.”

Hebrews 9:11-12;

“But Christ came as high priest of the good things to come.”

Notice, God has good things to come. There's good stuff on the way!

“With the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands that is not of this creation.” Or you could say not this kind. “Not with the blood of bulls and calves, but with His own blood. He entered the most holy place once for all having obtained eternal redemption.”

Your redemption is not in question. Your identity is not in question. Your security is not in question. Your kind is not in question for God. Redemption is eternal!

Galatians 3:13-14;

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law having become a curse for us. For it is written cursed as everyone who hangs on the tree. That the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus. That we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Faith will move you over into this redemption.

Faith will keep you satisfied in the power of God.

You don't have to chase stuff. Faith will keep you steadfast.

Psalm 107:1-2;

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord for He is good. For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.”

The NIV says, “Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.”

Your story of redemption will stop the enemy. It will confuse him because he wants to make you forget what kind you are.

Brother Copeland says, “I don't play nine inning games. I will play till I win because I'm promised to win!” You were created in God's image. You are His kind. You've been redeemed, you've been brought back.

  • You're the redeemed kind.
  • You're the anointed kind.
  • You're the called kind.
  • You're the free kind.
  • You're the healed kind.
  • You're the prosperous kind.
  • You are the faith kind.
  • We are a different kind.

To stay in “this kind,” You need to take a stand of faith.

When Paul told Timothy, fight the good fight of faith, he wasn't telling him to fight to win. He was telling him to fight, to stay in the position of faith because you're not that kind. You're a different kind.

When Jesus had been fast asleep in the boat and was awoken by the disciples. The disciples said do you not care… Jesus stood up and spoke to the wind (which according to the AMPC was in hurricane proportions). Matthew 8:27 says, the men were amazed and asked what kind of man is this? That the wind and the waves obey him?

Our mission is to take a group of people. Disciple them intensely in the Word of God. Teach them an uncommon faith, and help them stand victoriously in life. Your victory in life will make people look at you and go, “What kind of a person?”

You have access to all that He has because you're that kind.

Your hope lies in the fact that Almighty God has never changed His mind about you, and there's nothing you can do to make Him decide that you're not worth it.
