November Theme: Healing Hands
November is one of my favorite times of the year! The weather in Texas is beginning to get cold and crisp while families and friends come together to celebrate Thanksgiving. During this season we get to slow down and reflect, heal, and give thanks to God for his goodness that He has displayed to us through the year. This month in Superkids we are going to teach your Superkid that God is good, and he wants his children well. Jesus came and was anointed to heal the sick. Sickness and disease are not a part of God’s plan for his children. He wants them to prosper physically, emotionally and spiritually. I am so excited to gather in God’s house on Sunday mornings and feast at God’s table of healing and goodness this month. We have a seat saved for your Superkid!

Volunteer of the Month:
Cherish Drummond
Mrs. Cherish is one of our core leaders in Superkid Academy, and we are so grateful to have her on our team! She brings so much cheer and many smiles to SKA, along with a heart to serve. In addition to being a core leader, Cherish helps on our check-in team and teaches Basic Training. Cherish, thank you so much for sowing eternal seed into the lives of our Superkids and their families. You’re helping our Superkids build their foundation on the Rock!
Radiant:
Radiant is happening on Thursday, November 14th. The ladies are having Friendsgiving around the world! Superkid Academy will have children’s ministry available for birth-5th grade. Doors open at 6:30pm, and dinner will be provided in each classroom.
Thanksgiving Outreach:
Each year EMIC partners with Life Unlimited to help bless the community during their Thanksgiving outreach. If you would like to participate in blessing the community, you can donate nonperishable food items such as boxed cornbread, macaroni and cheese, and canned goods by placing them in barrels at EMIC! You can also serve during the outreach event taking place on Saturday, November 23rd. For more information, please go to emic.org/events.
Dance Practice:
If your child is part of the Superkid dance team, we have an optional dance practice available for them on Tuesday, November 26th from 4:30pm-5:30pm in the SKA studios.
No Service Reminder:
There will be no service on Wednesday, November 27th. Please take this time to enjoy time with your family by baking yummy desserts and cooking together. A quote from Mother Teresa that I love is, “If you want to change the world, go home and love your family.”
Faith Buddy Opportunity:
Faith buddies is a volunteer opportunity to help minister to student ministries congregants with special needs. To receive an application, please stop by any student ministries classroom. For more information, please email Pastor Ara Veney at aveney2@kcm.org
Fun Thanksgiving Recipe for Kids:
My family really enjoys cheeseballs and crackers at family gatherings. I provided a fun recipe below that you can do together with your kids. It’s a turkey cheeseball!
Ingredients:
- Pre-made cheese Ball
- Olives for eyes
- Candy Corn
- Crackers for dipping
- Pretzel Sticks
Directions:
Remove your pre-made cheese ball from packaging and flip upside-down. Using a spoon, scoop out a small amount of cheese from the bottom of your cheese ball and set aside. This cheese will serve as the “glue” for assembling your turkey cheese ball.
Take one pretzel stick and poke it into the front of your cheese ball. This will be your turkey’s neck.
Take about 8-10 pretzel sticks and poke them into the back of your turkey in a fan shape. These will be your turkey’s feathers.
Use some of the cheese you set aside earlier to attach your candy corn onto the top of the pretzel at the front of your cheese ball. Then use more of the cheese to attach the edible candy eyes to this pretzel as well.
After you’re done assembling, surround your turkey cheese ball with crackers and enjoy!
