Grounded. A term we often hear used in the following way: “I’m grounded in the Word of God”. But what does grounded exactly mean? Webster’s 1828 Dictionary gives this definition:
1. To found; to fix or set, as on a foundation, cause, reason, or principle; as arguments grounded on reason; faith grounded on scriptural evidence.
2. To settle in first principles; to fix firmly.
That sounds like bulldog faith to me!! However, if we as believers are truly grounded in faith and in the Word, then why do we see many like us struggle? The answer lies in this scripture:
“Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.“ Colossians 2:7 (AMPC)
It doesn’t say that we are to be grounded in faith or the Word – and I’m not saying that is wrong (PLEASE don’t read that into this message)! It says we are to be grounded in HIM!! That is where we BEGIN in becoming grounded – we do as the scripture says and become firmly and deeply planted (rooted, grounded, fixed….you get the point) in HIM. THEN we continually are being built up in HIM….increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith… JUST AS YOU WERE TAUGHT!!
Did you catch that – who are you being taught of? Who has a voice in your life? If you are struggling with some things in your life and don’t understand why you haven’t gotten the victory already, check what and who has a voice in your life, and if it isn’t Father God FIRST, then stop – correct that – and don’t listen to anyone else until you are GROUNDED in HIM FIRST!! Then you can begin listening again to those Holy Spirit bears witness within your spirit.
Now, here’s a look at what is happening this week into next with our Radiant groups!
- Thursday, February 23rd is our monthly Abiding Wives group. This is a group for married women to fellowship and connect with each other as we gather to pray for our husbands. We meet every 4th Thursday of the month at a private home, beginning at 7 pm. You will need to email women@emic.org to get the address.
- Saturday, February 25th is our Advancing in Faith group. This group is using Brother Kenneth E. Hagin’s study guide, Bible Faith! We meet every 2nd & 4th Saturday of the month in the Living Room modular at 9 am. This group is also available online via Zoom. There is a $10 course fee that includes the Bible Faith Study Guide we will be using. To register for this group please go here: Registration
- Sunday, February 26th is The Ruth Circle, a support group for Widows. They meet and discuss the victory they have over widowhood and how to move forward in faith. They meet every 4th Sunday right after service in the Living Room modular – LUNCH IS PROVIDED with RSVP to cgrigg@emic.org!
- Monday, February 27th is our weekly Radiant Discipleship group led by Pastor Cathy Grigg. We are currently going through Sister Gloria Copeland’s book on the Fruit of the Spirit and meet at 12:15 pm in the Hospitality Room. This group is also available via Zoom: Radiant Discipleship Link
- Tuesday, February 28th is our Growing From Glory to Glory group. A time to enjoy the Word of God, good teaching, and light refreshments with other women of EMIC. They meet every 2nd & 4th Tuesday at 12:15pm in the Hospitality Room.
- Wednesday, March 1st is our Radiant Bible Study. Enjoy the Word of God and good teaching, with other women of EMIC. We meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Hospitality Room at 10:30 am.
