Radiant Happenings! June 22nd

On Monday, during my discipleship group, the ladies and I were reading a portion of Brother Hagin's book, How to be Led by the Spirit of God, and he referenced a scripture. As is our custom, we turned to our Bibles to read the scripture in a few different translations. However, I had turned to the wrong scripture and began reading. Once I realized I had read the wrong scripture, knowing that the Holy Spirit is always at work, I knew it may not have been an accident. So, upon reading the correct scripture, we soon saw the link: to not admit or acknowledge our sin when God highlights it to us, (because we have the living testimony in our hearts – according to the scripture I was supposed to have originally read) is like saying that God is a liar!

In essence, we are acting as little children that think they can hide their wrong action from their parent, all the while the parent already knows they acted wrong. Why do children hide wrong actions: fear. Specifically, fear of being punished. How does that make God a liar? Because scripture tells us so – take a look:

"If we claim that we’re not guilty of sin when God uncovers it with his light, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.” 1 John 1:10 (TPT)

When God points out our sin through the light of His Word, and then we deny we sinned, we are calling God a liar! BUT, think about this as well. If we are denying our sin for fear of punishment, what does that say about our view of God as our Father? That He is unjust, mean, harsh, etc.? Let that NEVER be the view you have of God as your Father! That is a lie from the enemy himself! Let's back up and get the TRUTH of how God responds to our sin according to verses 8 & 9 of 1 John 1 (TPT):

"If we boast that we have no sin, we’re only fooling ourselves and are strangers to the truth. 9But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

We should never deny or try to hide when we sin, but quickly ask forgiveness, knowing that God LOVES us and will forgive us EVERY TIME!!
