When I first met my husband Curtis, I was almost immediately attracted to him – not his looks, but him. The more I got to know him, the more I really liked him and wanted to have a relationship with him. I must admit, I was quite the spectacle in my pursuit of trying to capture his heart. There was no stopping my passion to get him to notice me. (Thankfully, I got some wonderful advice from my future mother-in-law who said to let HIM do the pursuing! It worked!!) Do you have a similar story of pursuing someone that you are so passionate to have a relationship with, that you become a spectacle? King David did!!
Look at the next verse in our study of Psalm 63 – verse 8:
"With passion I pursue and cling to you. Because I feel your grip on my life, I keep my soul close to your heart.” Psalm 63:8 (TPT)
How I wish I had understood that verse when I was much younger in my walk with God. Instead of pursuing my husband, how much better it would have been to pursue God like that! Don't get me wrong, I love my husband just as passionately as I did when I first met him (if not more!). But in pursuing God instead of my husband, I would have made less mistakes in my walk with HIM. Does that mean it’s too late to pursue God with the passion David writes about? NO – it is NEVER to late to pursue God, cling to HIM, and keep your spirit close to HIS HEART!!
Now, here’s a look at what is happening this week into next with our Radiant groups!
- Thursday, September 28th is our monthly Abiding Wives group. This is a group for married women to fellowship and connect with each other as we gather to pray for our husbands. We meet every 4th Thursday of the month at a private home, beginning at 7 pm. You will need to email women@emic.org to get the address.
- Saturday, September 30th we have our Women On A Mission day out. Our purpose is to strengthen and encourage other women in the body of Christ, while providing a safe environment for all women to fellowship, share, and develop friendships. We travel to various locations, enjoying shopping, sightseeing, outdoor activities, and more! They will meet at 10:00am at the Fort Worth Stockyards Visitor Center. RSVP if attending to women@emic.org
- Sunday, October 1st is our Marriage Re-Envisioned group for single women. Come join us as we learn the essentials of preparing for marriage. Whether you are single, divorced, or widowed we have a place for you! We meet every 1st & 3rd Sunday right after service in SLC Classroom B. You may bring lunch with you.
- Sunday, October 1st is when Bridge Moms meet to cook the meal for our Bridge Young Adults group. We cook every 1st & 3rd Sunday. 2:30pm-6:30pm – Prep to clean up. This group requires a food handlers license (license fee reimbursed upon completion), so if you are interested in joining, please reach out directly to Pastor Cathy: cgrigg@emic.org
- Monday, October 2nd is our weekly Radiant Discipleship group led by Pastor Cathy Grigg. Join us as we study Brother Kenneth E. Hagin's book, How to be Led by the Spirit of God – Legacy Edition! We meet at 12:15 pm in the Hospitality Room. This group is also available via Zoom! Radiant Discipleship Registration
- Wednesday, October 4th is our Radiant Bible Study. Enjoy the Word of God, and good teaching with other women of EMIC. We meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Hospitality Room at 10:30 am.
- Thursday, October 5th is our monthly Radiant Book Club meeting. We meet every 1st Thursday at 12:15 pm in the WordWorks Bookstore. The book selected for our October discussion is God, The Covenant & The Contradiction, by Brother Kenneth Copeland and Greg Stephens.
