Happy Leap Day! Did you know that without leap day, our calendar would be off by about 24 days every century, or every 100 years! This correction every four years is how we remain relatively "in line" with time. The same can be said for Proverbs. Reading, meditating, and acting on them, is like a course correction that keeps us "in line" with God!.
Now for this week's verse in Proverbs 2:
"'MY SON, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you,'" Proverbs 2:1 (AMPC)
God gives us clear instructions for finding the hidden treasures in His Word: My son, if you will receive my words and treasure up my commandments within you. We should take this scripture as the heavenly Father talking directly to us. The Father is telling us to treasure His words, making them the final authority in our lives.
Listen to what the Kesuvim / The Writings (Mishlei/Proverbs) on pg. 15 say about verse one:
Vs. 1 "My child: If you accept [lit., take] my words. The conditional, if, is to be understood as: You will be my child if you accept my words (Rashi)."
"And treasure my commandments with yourself. Solomon addresses each person as my son, and urges him to study Torah – to treasure it – so that he will not forget it (Radak)." Sfas Emes comments that one should not merely perform commandments, one should treasure them. When a good deed is performed, it should leave a Jew with a treasure, a sense of enhanced attachment to Hashem.”
Now, here’s a look at what is happening this week into next with our Radiant groups!
- Friday, March 1st is the meeting for Life In The Middle! This group is specifically for women ages 30-49 and meets every 1st Friday at 7pm at various locations.
- Sunday, March 3rd is when Bridge Moms meet to cook the meal for our Bridge Young Adults group. We cook every 1st & 3rd Sunday. 2:30pm-6:30pm / Prep to clean up. - Monday, March 4th is our weekly Radiant Discipleship group led by Pastor Cathy Grigg. Join us as we begin a NEW study of Dr. Bill Winston's book, Living In The Fourth Dimension! We meet at 12:15 pm in the Hospitality Room. This group is also available via Zoom! Click here to register!
- Wednesday, March 6th is our Radiant Bible Study. Enjoy the Word of God and good teaching with other women of EMIC. We meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month in the Hospitality Room at 10:30 am.
- Thursday, March 7th is our monthly Radiant Book Club meeting. We meet every 1st Thursday at 12:15 pm in the WordWorks Bookstore. The book selected for our March discussion is Walking in the Realm of the Miraculous by Brother Kenneth Copeland.
