Superkid Academy – May

Superkid Academy - Watch our broadcast

May Theme: Super Strong!

This May, Superkid Academy is diving into one of our core values: We are led by the Holy Spirit! This exciting and essential topic helps every Superkid understand how the Holy Spirit works in their lives.

We’ll explore:

  • The Day of Pentecost: How the Holy Spirit filled believers and how that gift is still available today.
  • Bible Examples: Stories of people guided by the Holy Spirit.
  • The Holy Spirit’s Role: How He acts as our Guide, Comforter, Advocate, Counselor, and more.

Through fun lessons and activities, kids will learn to recognize and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in their everyday lives.

Weekly Topics:

May 4th – Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)

May 11th – Simeon in the Temple (Luke 2)

May 18th – Bezalel (Exodus 31)

May 25th – Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5)

Memory Verse:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

John 14:16-17 NIV

All-Star Volunteer of the Month:

Elena Morse

Elena has such a big heart not only for our Superkids but for the families of EMIC. She joyfully serves in Superkids on Sundays and Wednesdays. She is also involved in serving during the Latino services, helping families check-in and answering questions they may have about Superkids or the ministry. We are so blessed to have such a precious gift as Elena on our team.

Family Activity:

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 NIV

Shining Like a Star:

Jesus says we are like lights in a dark world. Imagine a bright star in the night sky – everyone can see it! When we show kindness, help others, or talk about Jesus, we shine His light. God wants us to be bold and not hide our light, just like a city on a hill that everyone notices.

Discussion Question: Can you think of one way that you can shine the light of Jesus at school or home? (e.g., helping a friend, saying kind words)

Activity: Star Craft – Give each child a piece of paper to draw and cut out a star. Have them write or draw one way they can shine their light (e.g., “Be Kind” or a smiley face). Hang the stars on a string or stick them on a window to remind them to shine.

Family Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank You for making me Your light. Help me shine my light brightly by being kind and loving others. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

Happy Mother’s Day!

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” God compares His comfort to that of a mother, emphasizing the unique, tender, and powerful way moms provide love and reassurance to their children.

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to all the moms for your selfless giving and countless unseen sacrifices. Your love for your family shines brightly and does not go unnoticed. Every bit of love you pour into your children and family will be richly rewarded by the Lord. You are truly a SUPER MOM 🦸🏻‍♀️ Happy Mother’s Day!

Project Millstone: Online Safety Workshop for Parents and Teens

Saturday, May 10th, 2025 9:00am-12:00pm

For ALL Parents/Guardians (birth-12th grade) &14forty Students (6th-12th grade)

Childcare will be provided (brith-5th grade)

Now more than ever, we must prioritize the protection of our children. From the very beginning, the enemy has targeted the seed, and today is no different. As faith-filled parents, it’s time for us to take authority over the content our children are exposed to.

To support this, we are hosting a workshop on May 10th focused on online safety and awareness. We are honored to welcome agents from the Department of Homeland Security, who will speak to both our parents and 14forty students about the importance of staying safe in the digital world.

As online access becomes more widespread, having the right tools and knowledge is crucial. Let’s not parent from a place of fear, but from a position of authority and love in our children’s lives.
