The Speed of Faith

WE ARE FORGED IN FAITH!

Men, how do you measure your spiritual maturity?

That’s what we were able to uncover at our last Men’s Breakfast when we learned to measure our spiritual maturity by The Speed of Faith!

James 1:6-8  But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

Faith believes that we will have what we say (Mark 11:24). How often do we consider another thought contrary to the Word of God? That is the meaning of being double-minded. The opposite brings about a blessing:

James 1:25  But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

That word, continueth, in James 1:25 is the Greek word: parameno, which means to permanently persevere. When we act decisively, giving God’s Word final authority in our lives, the scripture here says that we will be blessed!

That’s why spiritual timing is the key to breakthrough. The sooner we act on God’s Word, not considering another thought, the sooner we see the speed of our faith bringing about the results of His promises.

The devil is fully aware of spiritual timing. That’s why in Mark 4:15 Jesus tells us that satan comes immediately to steal the Word sown in our hearts. Because of this, we have to more immediately act on the Word and abide in the Word. Being prosperous and having good success, as the Lord told Joshua (Joshua 1:7-9), comes from not turning from the Word right or left but staying moving forward, acting on the Word, and meditating on it day and night.

Here are some areas to measure your spiritual maturity by:

  • How long does it take you to take your thoughts captive?
  • How long does it take you to pray over any situation?
  • How long does it take you to speak the Word over any situation?
  • How long does it take you to forgive?
  • How long does it take you to worship and thank the Lord when good things happen?

The answer to these questions could be seconds, minutes, hours, days, or maybe even months. The more immediate your response the more you have the Word in you and the more you are putting your trust in God’s Word. This becomes a measure of your spiritual maturity – the Speed of Faith!

Your ability to close the gap of response time comes from abiding in the Word and trusting God immediately by faith.

John 8:31-32 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
