A TIME OF TOTAL IMMERSION

The 2023 Southwest Believers’ Convention
July 31-Aug. 5

It’s that time again!

In just a few weeks, we will be gathering together for the 2023 Southwest Believers’
Convention here in Fort Worth, Texas.

We will begin Sunday evening with the FlashPoint® LIVE event. Then, beginning first thing
Monday morning, we will hear from Kenneth Copeland. Speakers throughout the week will also
include Jesse Duplantis, Keith Moore, Bill Winston and Jeremy Pearsons. Pastor Terri Copeland
Pearsons will be leading us in Pre-Service Prayer each morning and evening. We will also have
tremendous worship, as well as children’s and youth services.

As always, Eagle Mountain International Church is the host church for this convention. I am
so thankful for all the volunteers from our congregation who will be serving. What a church!

Thank you for your faithfulness to EMIC and for the supply of the spirit you bring to each
service and event. We are believing with you for God’s overwhelming supply to come back to you,
according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition). You are furnished in abundance to
fulfill your assignment and every need!

The vision and concept for this time in The WORD came to Brother Copeland many years ago.
The LORD revealed to him why these extended times are so crucial to the development of our faith.

The following is an excerpt from THE BLESSING, by Kenneth Copeland. This passage articulates
exactly what I wanted to share with you in this letter. It relates to the biblical principle of total immersion:

Once you’ve made a quality decision to make The WORD your final authority, the next step in the process of faith is to follow the instructions God gives us in Proverbs 4:20-22: ‘My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.”

For The WORD to produce results in your life, you must give it your attention by spending time hearing it, studying it and meditating on it.

“How much attention do I have to give it, Brother Copeland?”

That depends on the kind of results you want. Ten percent WORD will produce 10% results. Fifty percent WORD will give you 50% results. One hundred percent WORD will give you 100% results.

When I first began learning about faith as a student at Oral Roberts University, I needed major results fast, so I jumped in at the 100% level. I used a technique I’d read about that the U.S. government used to train translators during World War II called Total Immersion.

At the beginning of the war, there wasn’t time for translators to become fluent at the normal rate. To speed up the process, they were surrounded 100% with the language they were learning. Research proved if they didn’t hear or speak anything but that language, it literally made new grooves in their brains, and they became fluent in six weeks or less.

While I was thinking about that, The LORD spoke to me. He said, Son, if you will do that—if you will totally immerse yourself in The WORD and give yourself to it for just a period of a week, it will change your entire future. It will change the direction of your life. Your faith will rise to a new level and will never go back.

I decided to put it to the test. I got my Bible, a notebook and the few tapes on faith I had by Kenneth E. Hagin and set up a study hall for myself in our little garage. I told Gloria, “When you call me for a meal, if I’m not there in five minutes, you and the kids go ahead and eat. I’m going to feed on The WORD.”

I locked myself in there for seven days. The only time I came inside was to eat every once in a while and to go to sleep at night. When I did come in, the only thing Gloria and I talked about was faith and The WORD. We didn’t discuss anything else the whole time.

When I was out there listening to a tape and Kenneth Hagin referred to a scripture, I’d stop the tape and read the whole book that contained the verse. Then, I would turn the tape player back on and start listening again.

By the end of that seven-day period, exactly what The LORD had said came to pass: The WORD had become the solid foundation of my life. In one week, The WORD changed my thinking. It revolutionized the way I saw things. I still didn’t know much, but what I did know was embedded so deeply that you couldn’t beat it out of me with a bat.

From that time, faith became my way of life. I didn’t live by faith just now and then when I found myself in a crunch. I did it every day.

Total Immersion is one of the major ways we give The WORD of God first place. The effect
of an entire week in The WORD of God produces amazing results.

Psalm 1:1-3 is a perfect illustration: “BLESSED is the man that walketh not in the counsel
of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his
delight is in the law of The LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be
like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also
shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

“Father, I make a quality decision today to become totally immersed in Your WORD during this
upcoming convention. The SWBC will renew my mind and build my faith. As a result, I will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, and I will bring forth fruit. Everything I do will prosper. In Jesus’ Name!”

See you downtown!

Pastor George

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
