I Just Celebrated My 70th Birthday!

Eagle Mountain International Church • August 14, 2023

I am so excited!

Someone might be wondering if I am thinking correctly. “After all,” they might say, “70 is OLD.”

“Well,” I would answer, “it is not nearly as old as you think!”

Allow me to explain.

But first, let me thank you for your commitment to EMIC and the supply of the Spirit you bring. We believe THE BLESSING is working mightily in your life and that every need is fully supplied according to God’s riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Now, back to my birthday. I have found, in many cases, once a person reaches about 20 years
old, he or she begins to be concerned about birthdays—especially when facing a new decade. There is a sense of disbelief that settles in: “I am going to be how old?”

So here’s why I’m so excited about turning 70. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world,
that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.” Everlasting life refers to eternity with Jesus. But so many don’t realize everlasting
life is also about life on earth. It refers to the quantity and quality of the years we live here.

Psalm 91:16 tells us, “With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” One of
the words for satisfy means “to be fulfilled.” The LORD will fulfill us by demonstrating to us His
salvation. That includes deliverance, health, victory, prosperity—everything we would ever need.

The LORD wants us to live long and strong. As a matter of biblical fact, it is His will for us
to live 120 years! A Partner handed me this note at a Victory Campaign. She wrote, “I work for a
major insurance company. I write life insurance policies. We now have a policy that goes up to
120 years called a “lifetime policy.”

Genesis 6:3 declares, “And The LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that
he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”

Deuteronomy 34:7 gives us a great example. “Moses was an hundred and twenty years
old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.” The Good News Translation
says, “He was as strong as ever, and his eyesight was still good.” Look at The Message. “His eyesight
was sharp; he still walked with a spring in his step.” I claim that, in Jesus’ Name!

Some people really wonder about that “120-year thing.” They say, “I thought Jesus was
coming soon. What good does it do me to believe for 120 years?”

Brother Copeland clearly answers that question. “There is a level of faith in believing for
120 years that will supersede the level of surrender to your physical body. You will live a lot stronger believing for 120 years than believing you are going to die in the next few years. Believing for 120 years will pull your faith up and out of your sickness.”

Here are a few of the scriptures on which I have been meditating.

Psalm 92:12-14 says, “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar
in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of The LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing” (fat in this verse means
“to prosper beyond measure”).

Proverbs 3:1-2 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition) tells us: “My son, forget not my law or teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments; for length of days and years of a life [worth living] and
tranquility [inward and outward and continuing through old age till death], these shall they add to you.”

Job 5:26 (Contemporary English Version) says, “You will live a very long life, and your body
will be strong until the day you die.”

Many years ago, I learned something very important from Brother Copeland. He said that
with every new decade comes a new anointing and fresh revelation from The WORD of God. That
is why I am so excited about turning 70!

A few months ago, I was praying about my birthday. This word came to me: You will accomplish
more in the next 10 years than you have in your entire life. That was a birthday gift from heaven! The LORD has also led Pastor Terri and me to make this confession daily, based on Psalm 103:1-5:

BLESS The LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, BLESS his holy name. BLESS
The LORD, O my soul, and forget not one of all his covenant benefits. He forgives all my
iniquities. He heals all my diseases. He redeems my life from destruction and corruption. He
crowns me with lovingkindness and tender mercies. He satisfies my mouth with good things
so that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s. We are strong, overcoming and soaring.

Refuse to fear your next birthday. Celebrate it instead! And thank God that your youth is
renewed. There is much more in store for us all to accomplish for the kingdom of God. It is time for
“all hands on deck”! Remember Psalm 103:5 in The Message. “He renews your youth—you’re always young in his presence.”

Ready for the next decade!

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
