Seek Ye First the Kingdom

“In all things – Seek ye first the kingdom.”

-Pastor Terri Pearsons

Men, are you seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness?

Too often we enter into prayer by first bringing our list of needs and we may even do so believing, by faith, that God will answer our needs. But, this is not the order of approach we must take for any need or situation. Firstly, our needs are not a surprise to God.

Matthew 6:31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'

Matthew 6:32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.

Jesus is telling us that God knows what our needs are and has them covered. He doesn’t want us to focus on and be distracted by our needs but to focus on Him and the kingdom assignment He has for us, and He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil 4:19).

Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

“Jesus never prayed the problem – He sought the kingdom” – Ps. Al

Luke 22:42 saying, "Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done."

When Jesus was faced with His greatest challenge, He prayed that not His will but God’s will be done. When we seek God’s will we are seeking His kingdom answers and His righteousness to be done in our lives – not our own ideas of what’s right.

When Jesus taught us how to pray, He gave us the pattern for seeking the kingdom, again teaching us not to focus on our needs:

Mat 6:8-10 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. Pray then like this: "Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

He taught us to pray His kingdom come – His kingdom solutions and righteousness, containing the wisdom and power we need and His will, once again be done in our lives.

The kingdom of God has a place.

The other thing to remember is that His kingdom has a place. Pastor Terri shared that when we pray, we need to get to that place where we drop down into our spirit. That is where the answers and the breakthroughs are contained. Why is that? The answer is in Luke 17:20-21 below:

Luke 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

Luke 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Jesus said the kingdom of God is IN US! When we drop down into the spirit by praying in the spirit and reach that place in agreement with the Holy Spirit that lives in us, He makes alive our minds with the answers we need for all things perfectly aligned with His will and His righteousness!

Men, unified faith is the incubator for revival!

Let’s continue to join our faith in prayer for the Key Prayer Points below that will continue throughout the month.

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. Al’s teaching attached below and let’s be men that operate in the kindness of God! 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
