Developing an Uncommon Faith

Eagle Mountain International Church • February 5, 2018

I declare The WORD of God over you, according to Psalm 115:14: “The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children.” The spirit of increase is upon you!

Everything you set your hands to do is prospering beyond measure this year.

Thank you for being part of our vision for EMIC! Pastor Terri and I are so BLESSED to receive your supply of the Spirit as you attend our services. We believe for the spirit of increase on you and your family as you continue to stand with us throughout 2018.

Let’s review what we have been studying in January. Our series was birthed as I was praying over all The LORD has called us to accomplish personally, in the church and ministry in 2018. He said in Isaiah 54:2-3: “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; for thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.”

I asked The LORD what it would take for us to fulfill our vision. He said, You will have to develop your faith. I was reminded of a word He gave me the year before we began pastoring. He told me to take a group of people and disciple them intensely in The WORD. Teach them an uncommon faith. Help them stand victoriously in life. Work them in The WORD. Drill them. He instructed me to teach about “Uncommon Faith.”

Romans 12:3 says, “God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” When we were born again, we were all given the same measure of faith. The key is to develop that faith. So how do we develop an uncommon faith? Let’s review the steps:

Step #1: Receive Jesus as the developer of your faith.

Hebrews 12:2 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition) says we should be: “Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection].” Jesus is the developer or trainer of our faith. We can expect Him to develop our faith every time we put it on the line by believing His WORD.

Step #2: Give The WORD first place, and make it final authority.

Proverbs 4:20-22 tells us to “attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” Always ask, “What does God’s WORD say about my situation?” Then say, “THAT is THE FINAL WORD!”

Step #3: Continually feed on The WORD.

Matthew 4:4 reveals, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every WORD that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” The WORD of God is faith food for our spirits. It will build us up and strengthen our faith. Here is the Pastor George translation of Romans 10:17: “Faith comes by feeding, and feeding on The WORD of God.”

Step #4: Meditate on The WORD.

Meditating on The WORD builds a capacity for strong faith. Joshua 1:8 (New King James Version) declares: “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Meditating is spending time applying The WORD to your situation.

Step #5: Act on The WORD.

James 1:22 says, “Be ye doers of The WORD, and not hearers only.” Doing or acting on The WORD puts faith on the line. One way we do The WORD is to speak it. Faith grows when God’s WORD becomes a vital part of our daily speech. I like Pastor Terri’s famous quote: “If your mouth will feed your heart faith when you don’t need it, your heart will feed your mouth faith when you do need it.”

Step #6: Pray in the spirit.

Jude 20 says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.” 1 Corinthians 14:4 tells us that he that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself. Praying in tongues builds up our faith.

Step #7: Continually give God praise and thanksgiving.

Praise and thanksgiving is what we do between the “amen” and “there it is” of our prayer. Praise encourages our faith. Praise is our affirmation of receiving what we have believed. “Praise God! Thank You, LORD. I believe I have it now by faith, in Jesus’ Name!”

Your faith training coach,

Pastor George

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
