The Principle of Total Immersion
Pastor George Pearsons – July 2022
In 2 Corinthians 2:14, the Apostle Paul wrote:
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.”
The Message tells us in verse 14 that, “In Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade.” It is God’s will for us to win every time in everything—including our finances.
In Deuteronomy 8:18 (New King James Version), the Bible tells us:
“And you shall remember The LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
Pastor Terri and I are thankful that you have chosen to be part of the family here at EMIC. We pray that, as you hold those words close to your heart, and as you purpose to continually live and walk in obedience to The LORD and His WORD, you receive an overwhelming, abundant harvest of His blessings.
On Thursday, June 9, I was in Fargo, N.D., with Brother Copeland for the Fargo Victory Campaign. The meeting was to begin that evening. I woke up very early that morning, and while lying in bed the first thing I said was, “LORD, is there anything You want to tell me?”
I received my answer immediately. He said two words: Total immersion.
I knew exactly what He was talking about. I have taught that message over the years, especially before the Southwest Believer’s Convention. It is helpful to know as we all prepare for an intense week in The WORD of God.
Many years ago, The LORD dealt with Brother Copeland about the concept of total immersion in relationship with strengthening believers. He saw the principle work in language study. People could become conversationally fluent in a foreign language in six weeks if they totally immersed themselves. He applied that same principle to God’s WORD.
He thought, If people would totally immerse themselves in God’s WORD for one week, they could accelerate the renewing of the mind process. Their intensive exposure would flush out doubt and replace it with faith. They could go from the milk of God’s WORD to the meat in a much shorter period of time. The longer they remained in that atmosphere, the more sensitive they would become to the voice of The LORD and the leadings of the Holy Spirit.
He realized the total-immersion principle originated in the Bible.
God told Joshua to become totally immersed in His WORD before going to battle.
Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) tells us:
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
When we completely immerse ourselves in God’s WORD, we will be able to do what He reveals to us to do. Our way will be made prosperous. We will be successful in everything we do. The cares, worries and pressures will subside as The WORD takes ascendency in our hearts and minds.
We all need an extreme dose of God’s WORD to set us on a strong course for the future.
Psalm 1:1–3 is another great example of total immersion. It says:
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of The LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper” (NKJV).
Notice the results from total immersion. We become like a tree rooted and grounded by the rivers of water. We produce fruit in spite of the economic
conditions. Our ability to produce fruit never fails. Everything we do will prosper. So, ask The LORD this question: “LORD, what do You want me to do to
become totally immersed in Your WORD?” Then, take the time to listen. He will show you exactly what to do.
Totally Immersed in God’s WORD,
Pastor George
