Stress-Free Living

Eagle Mountain International Church • March 15, 2016

“Great is The LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable” (Psalm 145:3). God’s greatness has no boundaries or limits. It’s time to believe God for the supernatural, like never before.

Thank you for your great tithes and offerings. Together, we claim a great harvest of abundance. I release my faith with yours for all bills to be paid in full, all debts removed and superabundance left over. Deuteronomy 28:11 (The Amplified Bible—Classic Edition) is yours today: “And The LORD shall make you have a surplus of prosperity.”

Pastor Terri and I were shopping at a department store some time ago, when I happened to stop at a CD music display. You know the kind. You can press the buttons and hear samples of the music. There were various genres of music: big band, movie hits, ‘70s, classical. I took note of one called “Soothing Sounds to Calm the Body and Mind.” I pressed the button and began to hear the sounds of a gentle stream, tweeting birds and soft strings. When I looked for the CD, I noticed it was the only one sold out. There were plenty of other CDs available—but “Soothing Sounds” was gone. The LORD had me take note of the fact that people live under constant stress and are looking for anything to help them escape the pressure.

The LORD has had me on a “spiritual cleanse” lately, based on Hebrews 12:1-2: “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” I have been quick to obey when He says, You need to lay aside care, fear, pride, etc.

While preparing to write this letter, The LORD said, They need to lay aside stress and pressure.

There are many reasons why we should live stress-free. The negative effect stress has on the physical body is one of them. A sometimes dramatic illustration of the aging effects of stress is evident when you compare photographs of when a U.S. president first entered office and when he left. The visible aging is often astounding.

I have been spending much time meditating on Proverbs 14:30 (AMPC). It reveals a stunning truth about living stress-free. “A calm and undisturbed mind and heart are the life and health of the body, but envy, jealousy, and wrath are like rottenness of the bones.” The Living Bible says, “A relaxed attitude lengthens a man’s life; jealousy rots it away.”

Praise God, we don’t have to allow stress and pressure to enter into our lives! Psalm 34:19 (New King James Version) says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but The LORD delivers him out of them all.” The word afflictions relates to stressful, pressurized situations. The LORD delivers us out of them all.

Jesus is calling out to all who have been experiencing an abnormal amount of stress. Together, let’s receive Matthew 11:28-30 (New Living Translation) as a personal word from Him:

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.

There is a special place of divine rest in the midst of whatever pressure might be swirling around you today. Take a moment right now to look at Jesus and receive His peace. He knows what to do. He has the answers for whatever you are facing right now. Receive His wisdom and guidance.

Here is a faith statement you can declare whenever stress tries to climb back aboard your life. Just say, “I refuse the pressure and stress. I choose instead to enter the rest.”

Receiving His rest,

Pastor George

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
