Living in the Overflow

Eagle Mountain International Church • September 13, 2018

“May every one of you overflow with the grace and favor of our LORD Jesus Christ.”

—Philippians 4:23 (The Passion Translation)

The LORD has had me ministering on “Living in the Overflow” since May. And what an exciting study it has been! The foundation scripture has been John 10:10 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition). Jesus said, “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”

This study began when The LORD spoke to my heart and said, There are too many people struggling to just get by. Some are living paycheck to paycheck. They are having to decide which bills can and cannot be paid this month. Some have no reserve in their savings account. He went on to tell me there is a way to live on a higher level of provision. It’s called “Living in the Overflow.” It’s God’s will for us to have enough to pay our tithes, give offerings and pay our bills—with a whole lot left over at the end of each month.

Pastor Terri and I so appreciate the blessing of your presence at EMIC! Exciting things are happening, and you are an important part of it all. Thank you for your faithfulness and adding your supply of the Spirit. Together, we declare over you that all your bills are paid in full, and all debts are wiped out!

Now, speak this confession of faith out loud with me: “I am living in the overflow. I have a surplus of prosperity. I am blessed beyond measure. I have more than enough. I am furnished in abundance. My storehouses are full and overflowing. My cup is running over. I am getting richer and richer by the day. And, I am overflowing with God’s favor” (Philippians 4:23, TPT). I pray for our whole congregation that each of you overflows with the grace and favor of our LORD Jesus Christ!

The grace of God is the favor of God. Romans 5:2 (AMPC) says, “Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God’s favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand.” Living in the grace of God is living in a continual state of the favor of God. The LORD wants us to experience His favor everywhere we go and with everyone we meet, every day of our lives.

What is the favor of God? It’s God personally acting on our behalf, doing whatever it takes for us to succeed and flourish. His favor causes people to go out of their way to bless, help and make special concessions for us. His favor will make a way where there is no way, open doors where there are no doors, and do the impossible in the midst of the most impossible situations!

In Genesis 39:21, we see the favor of God in demonstration in Joseph’s life, in spite of being in prison: “The LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison” (NKJV). God’s favor kept lifting up Joseph until he occupied the highest office in Egypt, directly under Pharaoh.

Psalm 5:12 (New International Version) says, “Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.” That’s us! Luke 2:14 (NIV) says, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” That’s us! And Jesus said in Luke 4:19 (AMPC) that He was anointed “to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of The LORD [the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.” The free favors of God are abounding and overflowing in our lives!

Begin confessing Jerry Savelle’s “Ten Benefits of the Favor of God” daily, and note the difference it will make in your life.

GOD’S OVERFLOWING FAVOR…

…is producing supernatural increase and promotion in my life.
…is restoring everything the enemy has stolen from me.
…is giving me honor in the midst of my adversaries.
…is increasing my assets and real estate.
…is producing great victories in the midst of great impossibilities.
…is producing recognition, even when I seem the least likely to receive it.
…is giving me preferential treatment.
…is granting me petitions, even by ungodly civil authorities.
…is causing policies, rules, regulations and laws to be changed to my advantage.
…is winning battles that I won’t have to fight because God will fight them for me.

May you overflow with favor,

Pastor George

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
