Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Pastor Terri and I are believing with you for the most amazing and outstanding Christmas you have ever have.

We love you and are thankful to God that you have chosen to be part of our church family. We pray for you every day, asking God to bless you, and supply your every need according to His riches in Christ Jesus. According to 2 Corinthians 9:8, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition, “God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].” Believe this scripture with all your heart, and boldly walk in it.

This month, I have been thinking about God’s purpose in sending His Son, Jesus to the earth. There are so many scriptures and so many reasons why Jesus was born. But there is one that I believe is so significant to all of us. John 1:18 tells us that “no man has ever seen God at any time; the only unique Son, or the only begotten God, Who is in the bosom [in the intimate presence] of the Father, He has declared Him [He has revealed Him and brought Him out where He can be seen; He has interpreted Him and has made Him known]” (AMPC).

John 1:14 in the New Living Translation declares that “The WORD became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.”

We are told in 1 John 4:16 that “God is Love.”

The Father’s love was born into the earth when God sent His Son. People were able to actually see the love of God demonstrated through a man. They were shown what true love was all about.

As we read the Gospel accounts, we must realize that everything Jesus ever did was completely motivated by love. He never did anything outside the love of the Father.

Imagine what that must have been like. A human being—walking, talking, living and giving from a place of pure love.

When God sent His Son to us, He sent us His pure love. He declared His love, revealed His love and brought His love out where it could be seen. God made His love known to the world through Jesus.

The reason Jesus came to the earth doesn’t stop at His demonstrating His love to us. First John 4:16 says, “And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.”

Many years ago, The LORD ministered a powerful word to me about receiving His love. One morning, I thought about this phrase for one solid hour: “My Father Loves Me.”

During that encounter with Him, He told me, There is nothing more you can do to make Me love you more than I love you right now. To confirm that word, He took me to Deuteronomy 7:7-8 in the NLT: “The LORD did not set his heart on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other nations, for you were the smallest of all nations! Rather, it was simply that The LORD loves you.”

He loves us just because He loves us. It is for no other reason than that.

Not only do we RECEIVE the love that was born in Bethlehem, we must BE the love that was born in Bethlehem!

First John 4 says, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him…. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another” (verses 7-9, 11, New King James Version).

In light of this scripture, The LORD ministered a precious word to my heart: “God is Love—and so are we.” First John 4:17 says, “Because as he is, so are we in this world.” Who is He? He is Love!

Second Peter 1:4 tells us that we are partakers of His divine nature. Jesus’ reason for coming to earth was to demonstrate God’s divine nature. Now, being born again, we are to exhibit that same divine nature which is, THE LOVE OF GOD!

For this reason, Jesus came to earth. He demonstrated love to us so we could demonstrate His love for others.

“Father, help us to truly exhibit and demonstrate the love of Jesus to all who are around us this Christmas season. For this reason, Jesus was sent to show forth the Father’s love. For this reason, we can love others just like He does.”

Let Your Love Shine This Christmas,

Pastor George Pearsons

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word.
