Feeding Others

Our focus in Outreach this week is on our two food pantry ministries – Life Unlimited Food Ministry in Fort Worth and Newark Food Pantry. Both ministry groups give our church members the opportunity to love on others in our community while feeding them both physically and spiritually. By doing this, we are following multiple examples throughout Scripture showing the importance of feeding others.

In all four Gospels we can read about Jesus feeding the 5,000. He wasn’t going to send them away to find their own food. He had just spent hours feeding them spiritually – now He was ready to use His faith to feed them physically. Even when it doesn’t look like there will be enough, we see how God can multiply the resources we have to meet the needs of others.

We can also read about meeting someone’s physical needs in Luke 3:10-11 where John the Baptist is preparing the way for the Lord’s arrival. The crowds begin to ask him what they should be doing, and he replies, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”

But it’s not all about meeting the physical needs. We’re called to help meet the spiritual needs as well. In Matthew 4:4, Jesus reminds us, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” After His resurrection, He once again states how important it is to go out and teach the Good News and make disciples out of all nations. (Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:15)

At both Life Unlimited Ministries and Newark Food Pantry, people hear about the real provider that sustains them – Jehovah-Jireh. Their spirits are fed with the Gospel message. They will never walk away with just physical food – we feed their spirit, soul, and body.

Biblical word definitions in the Greek and in Hebrew often reveal different intended descriptions than what we translate in our own English language definitions. One example of that is believing that kindness reflects niceness or niceties in the Bible and attaching that description to the character of Jesus. The problem with that is that there is no scripture identifying Jesus as nice but instead – kind. Kindness in the Greek is the word “chrestos” which is defined as: fit for use and virtuous. “Or do you not presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance” Romans 2:4 ESV The kindness of God has a goal: to develop you, transform you, correct you and empower you. Kindness teaches but niceness appeases. If Jesus wanted to be nice, He would have calmed the storm before He asked Peter to step out of the boat and walk on the water. Instead, it was the kindness of Jesus extending His hand to Peter for the purpose of developing his faith during the storm. “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8 ESV We can see here that justice and humility are grouped with kindness. Being nice can subvert justice from a place of not getting involved but kindness demands action for the greater good. Please see the men’s breakfast video and Ps. “The chaos of the end times will require the spiritual focus of disciplined men” -Ps. Al Men, during our March Men’s Breakfast we discussed the need to increase good godly habits in order to grow as men of God so that we will better hear Him and take on His image. “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” Proverbs 25:28 ESV Developing a disciplined life requires us to not just stop doing unfruitful things but also filling those voids with doing things that edify and mature you in Christ. 7 Holy Habits (disciplines) to grow into Mature Manhood Increase your daily intake of God’s Word. Starting your day in the Word. Guard your heart, especially against offense. Increase your prayer life, praying intentionally rather than routinely. Please see the Men’s Breakfast video and teaching notes attached and get ready to step into a new dimension with God! Prayer and confession over 2026 – The Year of the Big Fix! Father, we ask for a mighty and sustained manifestation of Your wonderful glory in this current season; manifesting Your majestic presence, Your awesome power and Your extravagant goodness that brings: An awakening to You in the body of Christ; waking us out of our apathy, complacency, and lethargy and moving into the harvest field. Your glory to be made manifest in our church, Your body – the church, our school campuses, our nation, and the world. Breakthroughs of growth, prosperity, influence and favor for our ministry and partners at KCM, EMIC, KCBC and the Victory Channel. Personal prosperity and breakthroughs (answers, direction and clarity) for every church member and partner of this ministry. And complete preparation in spirit, soul and body for all that is coming. – To God be the all the glory, amen! Unified faith is the incubator for revival! Let us continue to join our faith in prayer for the Key Prayer Points below that will continue throughout the month: That the men of EMIC and the church at large will boldly share the gospel and win the lost to Jesus and invite people to church in 2026 !
