Pastor George Pearsons

Sunday Outline – April 16, 2023

This past Sunday, our Pastor, George Pearsons spoke on “Enemies on the Run!

Pastor shared while he was at the Victory campaign last week that he asked several people in the lobby; “Why did you come this year?”

  • They talked about the atmosphere.
  • They talked about the presence of God.
  • They talked about the Word of God that's preached and delivered.
  • Several of them said, “there's something that happens when believers get together of like faith and they come into the same room together for the same purpose together. And that is to hear from God and obey Him, and grow in our faith.”

Today we have the opportunity for our faith to grow. In 1992, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Take a group of people and disciple them intensely in the Word of God. Teach them an uncommon faith and help them stand victorious in life.” And that's what we're doing. We are going to disciple today intensely.

Galatians 3:13-14

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us. For it is written cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree, that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, I put me in there. He has redeemed me from the curse of the law.

Brother Copeland brought this out yesterday at the Victory campaign. In Deuteronomy 21:23, Everything Jesus did was part of the written Word. Everything that He did was obeying what was written about Him so that the Father could get His family back.

The curse is an empowerment to fail.

Curse in the Greek or in the Hebrew, means to destroy, to do away with, to cease and to terminate. It means to render something idle, unemployed, or to be made inactive. To deprive a force, influence, and power.

A curse tries to hold us back from the force of faith that God wants us to operate in. And the influence and the power. The curse is designed to drain you of all courage, all joy, all peace, all happiness. It's designed to shut you down and shut you up. I'm so glad that Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law.

In Deuteronomy 28:15 to the end, lists all the things that we have been redeemed from.

A simple definition of curse is everything that could go wrong goes wrong.

As believers, we can live curse free!

Sister Gloria Copeland;

“Everything good is in the blessing. Everything bad is in the curse. It is black and white. There is no middle ground. All good is in the blessing, and all bad is in the curse. I'm going for the blessing.”

The blessing of Abraham can come on me, through Jesus Christ, that I can receive everything that the Spirit promised through faith. I can take hold of that. So what is the blessing? The blessing is a declaration which empowers someone to prosper and succeed at everything they do.

I am blessed of the Lord. And you need to declare that over yourself.

Where did the blessing come from? The blessing was the first words that were spoken over men. The very first words set precedent. Precedent is a word that is spoken that carries on through. God set the precedent with the first words that came into the eardrums of mankind, into the heart of mankind.

Genesis 1:28;

"And God blessed them. And he said unto them, be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, subdue it, using all its vast resources in the service of God and man, and have dominion over it."  That's the blessing!

The word multiply in the Hebrew is the word increase. Increase was planned from the very start. You and I were designed by God to increase. We're not only influencers, we are increasers. (Psalm 1:15)

Subdue means “if it gets out of line, put it back.”

Blessing means “Everything that could go right, goes right.”

Deuteronomy 28:1-14;

“And it shall come to pass, if you shall harken diligently under the voice of the Lord your God, to observe and to do all his commandments, which I command thee this day that the Lord thy God will set you on high above all nations of the earth.”

I am overtaken by the blessing. The blessing is running after me and it's overtaking me. Pastor George shared about a demonstration he did when he jumped on Pastor John's back. The blessing was overtaking him. The blessing is sitting on you!

"All these blessings shall come on you and they'll overtake you if you harken to the voice of the Lord thy God. Blessed shall you be in the city. Blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle and the increase of your kind and the flocks of your sheep. Blessed shall be your basket and your store. Blessed shall you be when you come in and blessed or empowered to prosper, to succeed are you when you go out, the Lord shall cause your enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before your face. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you."

And the Lord shall make you plenteous in goods. The Amplified Classic says, “He will make you to have a surplus of prosperity.”

What is a surplus? More than enough. Have you ever been to a surplus store? It's just stacked to the gills with all kinds of stuff. Overflowing. That's what having a surplus of prosperity is like. And God wants you to have a surplus. He wants you to have extra. He wants you to have more than enough to pay your bills, to live debt free and to be able to bless others with it. That's what He desires, and that's the will of God. Don't buy the poverty and lack mentality that people try to sell.

The new Living translation says, “I will lavish you with good things.”

The Lord shall open unto you His good treasure.

The New Living says, “His rich treasury.”

The Message translation says, “The sky vaults of heaven.”

"And you shall lend unto many nations and you shall not borrow. And the Lord shall make you the head and not the tail. And you shall be above only and shall not be beneath if you harken under the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I commend thee this day to observe, and to do them. And if you'll not go aside from any of the words, which I commend you this day, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them."

From verse 15 to the end of chapter, you need to read to see what you have been redeemed from.

Verse seven

“The Lord shall cause your enemies that that rise up against you to be smitten before your face. They shall come out against you one way and they will flee before you seven ways.”

Smitten is a Hebrew word that means a sudden, quick, decisive, fatal blow with the intent to utterly conquer and destroy.

This reminds me of David and Goliath.

1 Samuel 17:49

David put his hand in the bag and took a stone, slang it and smoked the Philistine in his forehead. That stone sunk into his forehead and he fell upon his face to the earth. Now, that was a confrontation that ended quickly, that was a sudden quick, decisive, fatal blow with the intent to utterly conquer and destroy. I don't know what the Israeli army was thinking when David gave back Saul, his armor and his sword. That's not what he was used to. He must have had a lot of practice with that slingshot.

Goliath got smoked that day! Then David goes up and cuts off his head (It’s Selfie time as David holds the head up)

The Lord shall cause your enemies that rise up against you to be smitten before your face. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

Flee in the Hebrew means to vanish and disappear, no longer seen, gone.

1 Samuel 17:5 When the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled. And the men of Israel and Judah arose and shouted and pursued the Philistines. When they saw it, they fled, they disappeared. The enemy disappeared. Fear was struck in their hearts. Their giant was dead. And the enemy ran. They fled.

James 4:7, Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Rick Renner translation of James 4:7;

“Stand firmly against the devil! That's right! Be unbending and unyielding in a way that he knows he is up against a serious contender. If you will take this kind of stand, he will tuck his tail and run like a criminal who knows the day of prosecution is upon him. Once you stand resisting him, he will flee from you [as in stark] terror.”

You are a serious contender! You may not act like it, but you are. We have to get the mentality that it's the devil that fears us. We don't fear him, so that he knows he's up against a serious contender.

The Message translation says, “God will defeat your enemies who attack you. They'll come at you on one road and run away on seven roads.”

The Jewish commentary, the Chumash (Stone Edition) Pages 1076-1077 says it is common for people who flee in panic to disperse and runoff in all directions, discarding every semblance of military discipline. The position of this verse with the next verse speaks of blessed storehouses, suggests that the fleeing enemy will leave behind a wealth of supplies and provisions for the Jews to take at will.

We saw that with the lepers. The enemy ran off and they left their stuff, the gold, the silver, all the stuff. It suggests that the fleeing enemy will leave behind a wealth of supplies and provisions.

Here's another interesting commentary. They shall come out against you one way in the firmest and most united manner. Now that's what the devil does. He tries the “pile up” technique. He is determined to overwhelm you. But you've got enough Holy Spirit power to blast through that and get out of that situation. You cannot be cornered, when you are being pushed into a corner, remember you are surrounded by angels, and we're surrounded by the blood of Jesus Christ, and we're surrounded by the Word of God.

Adam Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible, page 224

“They shall come  come against you one way in the firmest and most united manner. And they flee seven ways and shall be utterly broken, confounded, and finally routed or defeated."

The number 'seven' means perfection, completion. And in the Hebrew it also means total victory.

The Lord led me to the seven redemptive names of God that completely cover the total defeat of the seven major enemies of life. Those names are weapons of our warfare. Those names of God contain the power to obliterate whatever enemy is before you.

Don't maintain a household of fear. Maintain a household of faith. We should have a zero-tolerance policy where fear is concerned. Fear is a defeated foe. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Isaiah 41:10;

“Fear not for I am with you. Be not dismayed. I am your God. I'll strengthen you. I'll help you. I'll uphold you with my righteous right hand. Behold, all those who are incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced, they shall be as nothing. And those that strive with you shall perish. You shall seek them and not find them. Those who contended with you, as nothing vanished as a non-existent thing.”

2 Chronicles 20;

King Jehoshaphat was faced with enemies surrounding him. He sought the Lord to know what to do. And they did it.

Verse 21, when he consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord that should praise the beauty of holiness as they went out before the army. And to say, praise the Lord. His mercy endures forever.

Verse 22, And when they began to sing and praise the Lord, set ambushes against the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, which were come against Judah. And they were smitten

Smitten = Quick, decisive, gone. Not there any longer.

As believers, all the redemptive names for Jehovah are wrapped in the name of Jesus. He has been given the Name which is above every name. He gained His Name by inheritance. He gained His Name through conquering, and He was bestowed His Name by appointment through God. So, that Name has been given to us, by which we may be saved, by which we may be delivered.

It begins by believing in that Name that gives you access to the Name. It doesn't belong to everybody, except those that believe on His Name.
