Radiant Happenings! May 30th

We have reached the end of May, and it never ceases to amaze me at how quickly time seems to pass. Which makes Pastor George's message on Sunday even more important! We cannot afford to waste a single moment of the race we are running holding on to anything unnecesary or even harmful to us. That makes our study of Proverbs even more relevant considering ALL the wisdom it contains on what happens to those that walk in God's ways, versus walking in the ways of the world! That being said, let's jump into today's study!

Our Proverbs Chapter 2 Study

"[Discretion shall watch over you, understanding shall keep you] to deliver you from the alien woman, from the outsider with her flattering words," Proverbs 2:16 (AMPC)

Natural men stuggle to get hold of the wisdom of God. Now, some do discover certain elementary principles of God's wisdom that can bring a measure of success on this earth. They find out that the laws of God are the laws of success. So they write "how-to-be-a-success" books telling you to be honest and just. They tell you if you want a successful business, you need to maintain an attitude of serving others.

Many people have become millionaires by studying and applying the principles in these success books. They have used God's elementary principles to lay hold of material wealth. But that's as far as natural man can go. If these same people aren't cleansed by the blood of Jesus and if all of God's wisdom isn't the quest of their lives, they can't lay hold of peace. they can't lay hold of divine healing. They can't lay hold of deliverance from every yoke of bondage.

Listen to what the Kesuvim / The Writings (Mishlei/Proverbs) on pg. 19 say about verses sixteen:

Vs. 16 "To save you from a strange woman, from a foreign woman, whose words are glib. The metaphor refers to the dangers of idolatry or heresy, which is tantamount to rejecting the entire Torah. The verse cannot be understood literally, to refer exclusively to forbidden women, for it would be demeaning to suggest that the Torah protects only against immorality (Rashi).

The strange woman is one whose behavior is openly improper. The glib foreign woman speaks virtuously, but is evil at heart (Radak).
