Radiant Happenings! June 20th

What a wonderful Radiant we had this past Thursday! Pastor Kathryn Hanley, Min. Ashley Veney, and the 14Forty young ladies were amazing hosts! I especially enjoyed Pastor Kathryn's message on removing generational silos and becoming unified women of God no matter what our age is!! If you missed the meeting, you can watch it here: Radiant

Our Proverbs Chapter 2 Study

"For her house sinks down to death and her paths to the spirits [of the dead]." Proverbs 2:18 (AMPC)

If God says, "Do this, and you'll be blessed," then you can know you'll be blessed if you obey what He's told you to do. If doesn't matter what is happening in the world around you, you will be blessed because God remains true and faithful to His Word and His righteous character.

But what happens if God warns you (as in verse 18 above), "The end of this way is death – don't do it," and you do it anyway? Sooner or later, you'll experience problems, trouble and sorrow. You can just count on it. God's admonition is true. He cannot lie.

For example, just look at the children of Israel. God told Israel through many, many supernatural events and messengers, "Do this, and you'll have good success. But if you disobey My commandments, other nations will conquer and enslave you. Terrible things will come upon you."

God was true to His Word. When Israel refused to listen to God's many warnings, they enabled the curse of the law to come upon them. As Christians we have been redeemed from that curse by the blood of Jesus (Galatians 3:13). But if we continue to act, think and talk like the world, we will suffer the same consequences for sin that the world does.

Listen to what the Kesuvim / The Writings (Mishlei/Proverbs) on pg. 19 say about verse eighteen:

Vs. 18 "For her house declines toward death and her course toward the lifeless [lit., those who are weak]; i.e., the dead, who have lost all strength. One who goes to the house of the forbidden woman will end up losing his life" (Metzudos).

Rashi connects this verse to verse 16. A man who goes to her house will find himself on a downward slope, sliding down toward death. Only the Torah can save one from this decline to death; thus, the Torah will benefit him greatly… people who are negligent about proper conduct, therefore are left without spiritual support, eventually falling into Gehinnom.
