Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons

Sunday Outline – April 30, 2023

This past Sunday, Pastor Terri Copeland Pearsons gave the KCBC Baccalaureate message, “Drawing Upon Elements of the Divine”

No matter what level of hardness you may have experienced in life, you are here today because of God’s faithfulness.

1 Thessalonians 5:23; (NKJV)

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

One of the main things to take away from KCBC is an understanding of spirit, soul, and body.

You are a spirit because you are created in God’s image. and He is a Spirit (John 4:24). You have a soul which is the seat of your mind, your will, and your emotions.

Romans 8 calls this the mind of the spirit, and the mind of the flesh. The spirit and soul together are, as 1 Peter 3:4 says, “the hidden man of the heart.”

YOU are not your body. The body is not supposed to be the boss—the spirit of man is to always lead. It is a reliable lead IF it is in fellowship with God, and you are growing.

Proverbs 20:27; (KJV)

“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.”

The spirit of man—that is where the light of God shines.

What is His light? Revelation, understanding, knowledge, foresight. Where does the light come from?

  • Psalm 119:105 His Word is a lamp and a light.
  • Psalm 119:130 The entrance of His words brings light.
  • John 8:12 Jesus is the light of the world.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 (KJV)

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

The Spirit of God is the agent, the facilitator of, and the connector to revelation from God, from His Word, from Jesus.

We are created in His image—His Spirit searches and by nature so does ours.

Another point of Proverbs 20:27. P-A-R-T-S

Like our minds and bodies, there are parts. What are the parts? I’m sure I don’t know them all, but there are parts connected to every aspect of all we are meant to be and do.

You have a ministry calling but also callings in relationships and responsibilities.

  • Family: spouse, parents, children, siblings
  • Friends
  • Church/your Body of Christ connections
  • Community
  • Humanity
  • You have preaching parts, teaching parts, praying parts, giving parts, parts that see, parts that hear, parts that discern.

For example, in your body you have many parts—bones, muscles, organs, which operate as systems—skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, reproductive, endocrine, and so forth.

Every one of these major parts are made up of cells. Billions of them. And they are all made the same way. Each cell has 17 parts! Then there are some elements that are found inside all the cells—water, inorganic and organic elements.

Water is the main substance making up 70% of what’s in a cell.

Isn’t it wonderful you don’t have to determine how to get water specifically to each part? You just put it in, and the body knows how to distribute it, use it, and how to replenish where it is needed.

But what about your spiritual parts? Are there spiritual elements found in all those parts?

Colossians 1:27 (NKJV) “Christ (is) in you, the hope of glory.”

We have the hope of glory in every part of our being. Christ—the Anointed One—is IN YOU!

God’s power, His ability, His equipping that is on Jesus or ever was on Jesus, is IN EVERY PART OF YOU. NOTHING IS ABSENT.

Just as water is in every cell; Jesus Christ, the Anointed One, with His Anointing, is spiritual water.

John 4:14; (KJV)

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life”

The unchangeable, faultless, eternal, circumstance dominating, faith producing Word of the Almighty God is the seed which produced New Life in you.

Ephesians 5:26 Christ makes us holy by “the washing of water by the Word.”

You are also born of the Spirit. Remember, He is the facilitator, the One who quickens the seed of the Word.

John 3:6; (NKJV)

“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”

John 7:38-39; (NKJV)

“‘He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit.”

Ephesians 3:16; (AMPC)

“In the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].” When something is filled, then every part is filled.

Ephesians 5:18 says “Be filled.” This indicates a filling you have to participate in. Once you are born again, it is up to your drinking habits if you are FILLED.

Notice the AMPC says “in dwelling your innermost being AND personality.” When you are filled, there is the overflow of every spiritual part into your soul. The same thing would apply to your body.

Remember how there are other elements in the cell? There are also elements in every part of your spirit.

What about Love?!

“The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5 KJV).

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Foot notes from Spirit-Filled Life Bible:

“Love thinks no evil; it does not keep an account of wrongs done to it; instead, it erases resentments. Love does not rejoice in iniquity, finding satisfaction in the shortcomings of others and spreading an evil report, rather, it rejoices in the truth, aggressively advertising the good. Love bears all things, defending and holding other people up. Love believes the best about others, credits them with good intentions, and is not suspicious. Love hopes all things, never giving up on people, but affirming their future. Love endures all things, persevering and remaining loyal to the end.”

Galatians 5:22-23; (NKJV)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”

Rick Renner says this verse could be read:

“Love which is… joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”

All those are in every part of your spirit.

  • That means joy is there as strength when faced with the oppressions of life.
  • Peace is there to calm raging storms so that nothing is missing and nothing is broken.
  • Long-suffering permeates every spiritual part so that you can be a vessel of His love—no matter how long it takes or how much others may inflict upon you.
  • Kindness that gives first, not needing a cause, is accessible from every part.
  • His goodness, His desire and ability to bless and prosper others is in every part.
  • Faithfulness, the steady, dependable, loyal, covenant keeping nature of the Covenant Keeping God keeps all the other elements consistent and focused.
  • Gentleness—the tender touch of the Good Shepherd—sweetens the waters of the Word, The Spirit and the Anointing.
  • And self-control, perhaps the least accessed of love’s qualities, is none the less part of the very essence of your spiritual man.

Maybe love and its components are only there as parts of the seed you are born of.

  • But you can water it with the Word.
  • Water it with fellowshipping with Jesus.
  • Water it with praying in the Spirit.
  • Then when we draw on any part within, we should be drawing out the blessed fruit at the same time.

God is never separated from being good, and He is never separated from You.

What else is in these P-A-R-T-S?

2 Corinthians 5:21; (NKJV)

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

You are the righteousness of God—in Christ. What is righteousness?

  • It is HIS right-ness. He is right. He is perfect, without flaw, or weakness. There is nothing right outside of Him and nothing in Him that is not perfectly right.
  • This force of righteousness is so powerful it will change things that are wrong and make them right—or eliminate them altogether.
  • That force is not just sitting in you, but every part is righteous—perfectly made without blemish. But nothing unrighteousness is made righteous without blood. And the only pure and holy blood is the blood of Christ.
  • There is a scar, a mark, across every part of the heart, the inner man. It is the mark of the Covenant.
  • “…circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit…” (Romans 2:29 NKJV).

The new birth has taken me out of sin; and today I apply the blood to take sin out of me.

“…by grace you have been saved” (Ephesians 2:5 NKJV).

God’s willingness to supply His power and ability to be what He wants us to be, do what He wants us to do, and to have all that He wants us to have are interwoven and running throughout each and every part of your being. The ability to draw from each part is the grace of God at work.

What was the purpose of all this?

Ephesians 2:10; (AMPC)

“For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]”

Every single element of your spirit is saturated in purpose—God’s purpose for your very existence.

Good works are not how we attain righteousness, or live, or grace, or any other living element within us. But rather it is the purpose.

Good works is our co-laboring with Him. We are privileged to be partners with Him in the distribution of His love and Glory.

We are agents of the Covenant. Joint heirs sent to rule and reign in life by Christ.

John 10:10; (KJV)

Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Abundantly! In every part! Overflowing life! More life than the devil can bring death to steal, kill or destroy.

What do you have in you? YOU HAVE LIFE!! HIS LIFE.
