Dear Friend,
My heart has been crying out for a closer, more personal relationship with my Lord. I have been spending more time in “The Secret Place,” hungry to know Him in a deeper way than I’ve ever known Him before.
I began this quest by looking for scriptures that specifically speak about our relationship with Him. I wrote them out on paper and allowed them to speak to my heart. As a result, my fellowship times with the Lord have been sweeter. My relationship with Him is becoming more personal every day.
The first scripture I found was 1 Corinthians 1:9: “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” I also read other translations: “God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ” (Good News Bible). The Ben Campbell Johnson translation really expresses my heart: ‘You can depend utterly and completely on God who invited you into a relationship with His son, Jesus Christ our Lord.”
There is something very important we must know about developing this kind of personal relationship with the Father: He passionately hungers for a relationship with us! He created the universe for the earth and the earth for man. And, He created man for…fellowship with Him. That is why Jesus came to earth, died on the cross and was raised from the dead. He re-established man’s relationship with the Father that was lost in the Garden. We were made the righteousness of God in Christ so we could stand in the presence of our loving Father without a sense of sin, guilt or inferiority.
Savor these beautiful scriptures about the Father’s desire for us:
“I will give them an heart to know me...” (Jeremiah 24:7).
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace...” (Hebrews 4:16).
“...Enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” (Hebrews 10:19).
“Come unto me…” (Matthew 11:28).
“Come and dine” (John 21:12).
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I
will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
We have an open invitation to experience a personal relationship with the Father. Paul said it best in Philippians 3:10 (The Amplified Bible): “[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His person more strongly and more clearly.]”
Seeking Him daily,
